With the help of the software, consumers can easily and quickly compare their internet service with the current minimum requirements. The minimum coverage is currently 15 megabits per second for downloads, 5 megabits per second for uploads and 150 milliseconds of latency.
The RaVT measurement method explained briefly
The entire measurement campaign can be completed within one day without registration. Ten measurements are required, which are carried out in two blocks of five consecutive measurements each. A ten-hour break must be observed between the blocks so that only short-term service interruptions are detected. Following the measurement, the measurement log evaluates whether there is any indication of an undersupply of telecommunications services. In this case, consumers are asked to submit the measurement log to the Federal Network Agency via a direct link to the contact form. The Agency will then conduct further investigations and, if necessary, publish a finding of undersupply.
Right to telecommunications services
Under the Telecommunications Act, every citizen has had a legal right since December 2021 to a minimum provision of voice communication and internet access services for adequate social and economic participation. The parameters for minimum provision are regularly reviewed and evaluated by the Federal Network Agency. Consumers for whom no minimum provision is available can contact the Federal Network Agency.
