In the top positions, there was a neck and neck race: Deutsche Telekom was just able to fight its way back to first place among the nationwide providers, with last year’s winner 1&1 following close on Telekom’s heels. Among the regional providers, M-Net convinced with very good results.
The conversion of the German telephone and Internet fixed networks to All-IP-technology is in full swing. This brings improvements on the one hand, but also impairments through the ongoing conversions. Both aspects are reflected in the results of Germany’s biggest fixed network test, which connect carried out in 2016 for the seventh time in succession together with the network test specialists zafaco.
Adapted and altogether more stringent testing methods take changed user habits into account – for example, starting this year, the fixed network test includes the popular video services of Amazon, Facebook, Netflix, Videoload, Vimeo and Youtube. It is encouraging to see that, despite the more demanding test criteria, many providers have improved in comparison with last year.
