Swiss fixed-line internet sets the standard

zafaco analyses over 676,000 measurements – Swisscom comes out on top in both performance categories.

How well do fixed-line internet providers in Switzerland perform? The latest fixed-line internet provider test for 2026, carried out by zafaco GmbH on behalf of IMTEST, confirms the high standard of quality in the Swiss broadband market. Swisscom came top in both performance categories examined, thereby underlining its leading position in the market.

More than 676,000 measurements for an objective quality assessmentQualitätsbewertung

For the fixed-line test, zafaco analysed a total of 676,108 measurements between 27 April and 24 May 2026. The assessment is based on 55 quality criteria, which are grouped into five practical test dimensions:

  • Data
  • Stability
  • Streaming
  • Browsing
  • Voice

This multi-dimensional approach realistically reflects the actual user experience in everyday life and thus goes far beyond traditional speed measurements.

Swisscom comes out on top in both performance categories

As the Swiss market encompasses both traditional gigabit connections and modern 10-gigabit offerings, the test was conducted across two performance categories.

Connections up to 1 Gbit/s

In the category up to 1 Gbit/s, Swisscom took first place with a school grade of 5.88 (very good). It was followed by:

  • Sunrise – very good (5.65)
  • Quickline – very good (5.49)
  • netplus –  good (5.32)

Connections up to 10 Gbit/s

Swisscom also secured top spot in the performance category up to 10 Gbit/s with a school grade of 5.90 (very good). The following providers ranked behind it:

  • Salt – very good (5.79)
  • Sunrise – very good (5.68)
  • Quickline – good (5.32)

The test thus confirms the consistently high standard of performance across the Swiss fixed-line infrastructure in both performance categories.

Internet quality means more than just high bandwidths

The IMTEST fixed-line test shows that the quality of an internet connection today encompasses far more than just maximum download speeds. Stability, voice quality, response times and performance when browsing and streaming are crucial factors for the day-to-day user experience. Only the combination of these quality characteristics enables an objective and practical assessment of a provider’s actual performance.

Independent measurements ensure transparency

With its scientifically sound methodology and extensive data set, the zafaco fixed-line test provides an independent assessment of the Swiss broadband market. The results offer consumers reliable guidance when choosing a provider and enable network operators to objectively assess their performance against the competition.
