Federal Network Agency publishes results of broadband measurement campaign

The German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) published a map presentation to display the anonymised results of its broadband measurement campaign so consumers can compare their results across providers. The map is available on www.breitbandmessung.de.

The results can be filtered by various criteria such as provider and/or bandwidth. The map is updated daily. Users are able to test and share their internet speed, and to determine the performance of their stationary and mobile broadband connection.

The campaign is based on the transparency provisions in the Telecommunications Act, which aim to allow consumers to compare coverage and quality of telecoms services.

BNetzA first launched nationwide measurement campaigns in 2012 and 2013; the results were published in a study on the service quality of broadband internet.
