This is precisely the focus of the second nationwide mobile network measurement week from 24 June to 1 July 2026. Under the slogan ‘Check dein Netz:’, members of the public are once again invited to get involved.
Working together for greater transparency in mobile network coverage
Every contribution helps: the more people take part, the more accurate the picture of mobile network coverage in Germany will be. This initiative by the federal government, the states and local authorities aims to highlight network quality from the users’ perspective and identify where there is still room for improvement. The measurement data provides particularly important insights in rural regions or topographically challenging areas.
Simply take part and record mobile network coverage
Taking part is easy: during the Mobile Network Measurement Week, anyone interested can check their network using their smartphone and the Federal Network Agency’s free ‘Mobilfunk-Check’ app. The anonymised data collected in this way is fed into the ‘Gigabitgrundbuch‘ and shows how users experience the mobile network in their everyday lives.
Modernised app for an even better user experience
For this year’s Mobile Network Measurement Week, the app has been comprehensively modernised by zafaco. To further improve the user experience, we have fundamentally overhauled and redesigned the previous ‘Breitbandmessung/Funkloch-App‘. In addition to a modern design, numerous technical and functional improvements have been implemented. The tried-and-tested functions for measuring speed and recording network availability remain in place and are now available to users as ‘Speedtest’ and ‘Netzcheck’.
Contributing to a user-oriented assessment of network quality
Mobile Network Measurement Week thus implements an important initiative by the Federal Government: in future, network quality is to be assessed more closely based on users’ experiences. This is precisely where everyone can play their part.
