When a company website is slow to load or becomes unavailable, it can quickly turn into a business risk. But which web hosting services continue to perform reliably under load? Together with its testing partner zafaco, connect professional put eight well-known business web hosting providers through an extensive four-week real-world test. Hetzner emerged as the 2026 test winner, followed by Webgo and Mittwald. All three providers achieved the highest rating of “outstanding.”
The test included All-inkl.com, Hetzner, Hostinger, Ionos, Mittwald, Netcup, Strato and Webgo. Between August 3 and 30, 2026, zafaco collected more than one million measurements using regionally distributed measurement systems. A total of 38 quality criteria were evaluated across three key areas: stability, web services and server performance.
“The test shows that businesses today can choose from business web hosting services that offer a very high overall level of quality. At the same time, our measurements reveal clear differences in the individual strengths of the services,” says Christoph Sudhues, founder and Managing Director of zafaco GmbH. “For businesses in particular, it is therefore worth taking a closer look at which performance characteristics matter most for their specific website or application.”
Hetzner Overtakes Last Year’s Winner Mittwald
There is a change at the top in 2026: Hetzner moves up from second to first place, performing particularly strongly in the stability category. Webgo, a newcomer to the test, makes an impressive debut in second place. Mittwald, last year’s winner, takes third place.
The individual category results highlight different strengths. In stability, Hetzner ranks ahead of Hostinger and Strato. In web services, Hetzner, All-inkl.com and Webgo are closely matched. In server performance, All-inkl.com and Mittwald share the top position, with Webgo close behind.
Overall Results 2026
1. Hetzner – outstanding
2. Webgo – outstanding
3. Mittwald – outstanding
4. All-inkl.com – very good
5. Ionos – very good
6. Strato – very good
7. Hostinger – very good
8. Netcup – very good
Notably, none of the providers performed poorly in the test. All eight hosting services achieved a rating of at least “very good.” Nevertheless, businesses should take a closer look at the detailed results. Depending on the use case – from a traditional corporate website to an online shop or a dynamic web application – stability, web services and server performance can carry different levels of importance.
