Broadband networks in endurance test!

A lot has happened on the fixed network market in the past twelve months. The providers, with brand leader Telekom leading the way, are converting their networks to the cheaper but also more flexible All-IP technology.

The data rates of VDSL and cable are rising rapidly. And with tricks such as Annex-J the upload-speeds can also be increased.

However, such changes and extensions mean the network providers face very special challenges. Is it possible to keep the network available and performant, or will the customers clearly feel the reconstruction?

What about the voice quality after the conversion from proven technologies such as ISDN or analogue telephony to IP transmission?

Do downloads and uploads run quickly and with short reaction times? How well do web-based services work?

And how do the providers manage with the web TV services which put such high demands on the network?

This year again, the answers are provided by our big fixed network test, which connect has carried out with its proven network test partner zafaco.

For this, the test computers of zafaco set up around 1.7 million test connections in four weeks at a total of 36 locations. The results provide quite a few surprises.
