Since 2015, the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has published an annual report on available internet speeds in Germany based on hundreds of thousands of broadband measurements.
These are not restricted to DSL, cable or fibre optic connections. An app can also be used to check the speeds for mobile internet. Together with leading company zafaco, which developed the measurement method and analysed the results, IMTEST also focused on the details.
These – like the test on stationary internet connections – reveal which providers have best kept their promises. A look at the overall results across all connections and providers shows clear gaps between intention and reality.
